Could Your Fundraisers Win £100? |

It won’t be much longer until one of the most anticipated charity events of the year is upon us. For many charities, the TCS London Marathon is a cornerstone of their annual fundraising plans. Little wonder then that charities raised a jaw-dropping £39 million in London Marathon 2023 on JustGiving – more than on any other platform.

For a big event like the London Marathon, it always helps to start your fundraising as soon as possible. But if you’re only starting your campaign now or have recently welcomed some new fundraisers, not to worry! We’re here to help you kickstart your fundraising — or else give it a helpful boost in the final months before race day.

Just launched! £100 Draw for Your Fundraisers

We’re excited to help get your runners to the fundraising finish line! Here’s how it works.

For 10 weeks between 12 February and race day (21 April 2024), every donation made to a London Marathon runner’s fundraising page will count as an entry to win a £100 bonus donation from JustGiving.

The more donations a runner’s page receives during a particular week, the more entries (and greater chances) of winning the weekly prize. This is a great opportunity to encourage some friendly competition among your runners and their supporters.

Don’t worry about registrations or signups. Any active fundraising page linked to the London Marathon event ID on JustGiving is eligible for the draw — whether your runners have been fundraising for months or are just getting started. You can read more about the competition here.

“On Your Marks. . .”

The £100 donation competition is great and all, but there are even more ways JustGiving can help your charity prepare for the London Marathon. Enter: Charity Place Finder.

Charity Place Finder helps you find London Marathon runners for your cause in record time. If you have charity places available for London Marathon, you can list them on Charity Place Finder and we’ll promote your listing to runners who are excited to align with a great cause like yours.

“Get Set. . .”

The London Marathon involves a huge commitment of time, energy, and grit — and that’s just the physical training! You can help your runners achieve their fundraising goals with a few simple approaches:

Tell your runners to look out for JustGiving’s London Marathon Fundraising Newsletter.
The newsletter is packed full of helpful information, like our top tips for creating the perfect fundraising page, asking for donations, and even their very own training playlists. Plus, runners can join in fun surveys, giveaways, and more to keep the excitement going all the way through race day!

Encourage your runners to share their training progress.
JustGiving has a growing list of fitness app integrations where runners can share every step of their training progress with their supporters directly to their fundraising page. Why not start with Strava?

Share your runners’ fundraising pages on your own communications channels.
Whatever mediums your charity uses to get your message across — social media, email newsletters, your website, a podcast, you name it — carve out part of your communications calendar to promote your runners’ fundraising stories with your network of supporters and stakeholders. While some of your runners may command a lot of popular attention, others could likely benefit from a little promotional boost. And don’t forget the £100 Incentive Competition that launched on 12 February 2024. You can help your runners win the weekly prize by sharing their pages and encouraging more donations.

“Go!”

With thousands of runners involved and millions of pounds already raised, London Marathon 2024 is sure to be one of the biggest fundraising events of the year. Use the remaining time to share your charity’s story, expand your network of donors, and support your runners ahead of race day.

And as always, the JustGiving team is here to help. Need a hand planning your comms, stewarding your fundraisers or optimising your Campaign Page? Check out our new Event Fundraising Guide for lots of best practice tips and tools.
